Media Advisory: David Hayes, AG Brian Frosh, AG Letitia James & AG Maura Healey to Hold Press Conference on Climate and Health Impacts of Trump Rollbacks

David J. Hayes will be joined by state attorneys general in a press conference today announcing the release of a new report detailing the health and climate change stakes underlying the legal battle to preserve six critical federal environmental rules in the year ahead.

TODAY — David J. Hayes will be joined by Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh, New York Attorney General Letitia James, Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey and other state attorneys general in a press conference today announcing the release of a new Special Report from the State Impact Center detailing the health and climate change stakes underlying the legal battle to preserve six critical federal environmental rules in the year ahead. The report, entitled Climate & Health Showdown in the Courts, provides in-depth analysis of the cumulative climate change, economic and public health impacts of the Trump administration’s deregulatory agenda.

The Special Report also highlights how state attorneys general are leading the fight to prevent these rollbacks, which give a pass to four top climate-polluting industries, costing the public hundreds of billions of dollars in forgone benefits, and resulting in significant annual increases in greenhouse gases emissions and other forms of hazardous air pollution. The report focuses on the following rules:

  • The Coal Industry: Clean Power Plan (CO2)
  • The Automotive Industry: Clean Car Standards (CO2)
  • The Automotive Industry: Glider Truck Pollution (CO2)
  • The Oil & Gas Industry: Methane emissions (new and existing sources)
  • The Oil & Gas Industry: Methane emissions (public lands)
  • The Landfill Industry: Methane emissions
