Washington AG Secured First-Ever Conviction Under Washington Animal Trafficking Act

Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson announced the first-ever conviction under the state’s Animal Trafficking Act, which bans the sale or transfer of products made from certain endangered species. The conviction stems from the selling of items that were confirmed by genetic testing to contain elephant ivory. The convicted individual will serve jail time and had to forfeit over 1,500 items expected to contain elements made from certain endangered species.
