APRIL 2, 2019
Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson filed the first ever criminal charges against two individuals for alleged violations of the state’s Animal Trafficking Act. The Animal Trafficking Act is a voter-approved initiative that prohibits the sale or transfer of products made from certain endangered species. The charges stem from separate investigations involving the selling of items that were confirmed by genetic testing to contain elephant ivory.
