Vermont AG Secured Settlement with Waste Management Agency over Improper Glass Disposal

Vermont Attorney General T.J. Donovan secured a settlement with the Chittenden Solid Waste District over the agency’s improper disposal of processed recycled glass. The agency is alleged to have dumped more than 15,000 tons of glass adjacent to a rural road, and deceived state regulators about its actions. Under the terms of the settlement, Chittenden Solid Waste District will pay roughly $78,000 in civil penalties and $100,000 in forfeitures, and contribute $222,000 to supplemental environmental projects.
