Twelve AGs Sent Comments on Strengthened EPA Emissions Standards for Hazardous Air Pollution from Plastics Manufacturing
JULY 7, 2023
New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin led a coalition of 12 attorneys general in sending comments to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on its proposed New Source Performance Standards and National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants for the manufacturing of synthetic organic chemicals and polymers. The AGs highlighted the harms of emissions from these industries, and supported EPA’s proposed measures, including leak detection, control methods, and fenceline monitoring. However, the AGs urged EPA to incorporate its community risk assessment into its proposed regulatory decision.
