Texas AG Reached Settlement with Company over State Clean Air Act Violations

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton reached a settlement with a petroleum company over Texas Clean Air Act violations arising from an explosion and subsequent fire at the company’s facility when a contractor was cleaning a tank, which killed a contract worker and injured five others. Under the settlement, the company paid $588,000 in civil penalties and $12,000 in attorney’s fees, and also implemented a “corrective action plan,” as approved by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, which prescribes equipment and procedures for petroleum tank cleaning.
