APRIL 2, 2024
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced a settlement with International Terminals Company, a transportation logsitics company, to resolve violations caused by a fire at the company’s facility. According to the AG’s office, the 2019 fire released “hundreds of thousands of barrels of petrochemical products and firefighting water and foam into...surrounding waterways, [causing] significant impact and injuries to ecological resources and habitats, including marsh and riparian areas, as well as to birds.” Under the settlement, the company will pay $6.6 million to state and federal Natural Resource Trustees.
