South Carolina AG Filed Lawsuits against Chemical Companies, Including 3M and DuPont, over PFAS Manufacturing

South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson filed a lawsuit against several companies—including 3M and DuPont—for polluting the state’s resources by manufacturing products that contained per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), also known as “forever chemicals” for their resistance to breaking down in the human body and the environment. According to the complaint, the companies “misled the public and government regulators by consistently and publicly denying that their PFAS products presented any harm...despite knowing for decades that PFAS chemicals are toxic.” The lawsuit sought injunctive and monetary relief.
