Seventeen AGs Filed Comments Urging Energy Department to Finalize Rule to Undo 2020 Process Rule
SEPTEMBER 13, 2021
California Attorney General Rob Bonta led 17 attorneys general in filing comments regarding additional proposed revisions to the Process Rule, urging the Department of Energy (DOE) to finalize the proposal as it makes several significant changes to restore the pre-2020 Process Rule. The 2020 Process Rule revised the existing energy efficiency Process Rule, which outlined the process DOE follows when developing energy conservation standards for covered appliance products under the Energy Policy and Conservation ACT. The AGs further encouraged DOE to initiate subsequent rulemaking to reverse additional components of the 2020 Process Rule, including certain definitions and references the AGs argue are improper.
