Seven AGs Commented on Council of Environmental Quality’s EJ Screening Tool
MAY 25, 2022
New York Attorney General Letitia James led a coalition of seven attorneys general in comments on the Council of Environmental Quality’s (CEQ) beta version of the Climate and Economic Justice Screening Tool. The comments detailed the racist past of environmental injustice and urge CEQ to take a cumulative impacts approach for the tool, which accounts for “racial and ethnic disparities and the race and ethnically based discriminatory practices that have resulted in communities of color being chronically underfunded and overburdened with pollution.”
