Rhode Island AG Sued Providence Landlord over Lead Hazard Violations

Attorney General Peter F. Neronha filed a lawsuit against a Providence landlord for violating state lead poisoning prevention laws. According to the complaint, the Rhode Island Department of Health had identified multiple lead violations after several children were poisoned by lead at the property, but the landlord failed to remediate these violations. The lawsuit sought remedy of the hazards, alternate housing for the tenants of the property, and penalties of up to $5,000 a day.
