Rhode Island AG Filed Lawsuit against Chemical Companies, Including 3M and DuPont, over PFAS Manufacturing

Rhode Island Attorney General Peter F. Neronha filed a lawsuit against several companies, including 3M and DuPont, for harming Rhode Island residents and natural resources by manufacturing per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), also known as “forever chemicals” for their resistance to breaking down in the human body and the environment. According to AG Neronha’s allegations, the companies engaged in “a massive and widespread campaign to knowingly deceive the public, mov[ed] assets to avoid paying for damages they caused, and continu[ed] to manufacture, market, and sell these hazardous chemicals for decades while knowing the risks...reaping enormous profits in the process.”
