Rhode Island AG Advocated for Ratepayers at State Proceeding

Rhode Island Attorney General Peter F. Neronha filed a position memorandum with the state’s Public Utilities Commission arguing that the agency should mitigate the hike in electricity rates proposed by Rhode Island Energy, the state’s electricity utility company. The AG cautioned that the company may be trying to increase its profits by raising energy distribution prices, which is why the Commission should consider options to protect ratepayers.
