Pennsylvania AG Sent Letter Calling on Congress to Address PFAS Crisis with Legislation

Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro sent a letter to Congress calling for the enactment of legislation to regulate per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), also known as forever chemicals for their resistance to breaking down in the human body or the environment. AG Shapiro explained that federal agencies have moved to slowly in responding to widespread PFAS contamination that is putting human health and the environment at risk. He called on Congress to “step in and enact comprehensive federal legislation to protect public health and the environment” including by supporting several PFAS-related provisions in the Senate’s version of the National Defense Authorization Act.
