Ohio AG Launched Initiative to Hold Polluters Accountable

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost launched “Shine a Light on Dumpsters,” a $1.1 million initiative to promote enforcement of laws against illegal open dumping of solid waste. The AG’s office announced that the first phase of the initiative would involve “awareness, legal guidance, training, and investigative/prosecutorial assistance,” and the second phase would focus on “supplying technical equipment to law enforcement agencies that are battling solid-waste dumping in their jurisdictions.” The funds for the initiative come from the state’s settlement with Volkswagen over vehicle emissions fraud.
