Ohio AG Held Company Accountable for Polluting a River through Illegal Waste Disposal
SEPTEMBER 29, 2022
Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost announced a consent order with a landscaping company that his office had sued for illegally disposing of waste and threatening water quality in a nearby river. The AG’s office found that this company, and three others owned by the same person, had been discarding and burying construction and demolition waste at various properties, rather than at licensed facilities. Under the consent order, the business owner must clean up and monitor the disposal sites and pay $550,000 in penalties, a quarter of which will go to a non-profit that works to conserve the affected river.
