New York AG Filed Consent Decree against Northrop Grumman for Hazardous Waste Contamination

Governor Hochul and New York Attorney General Letitia James filed a consent decree that requires Northrop Grumman, multinational aerospace and defense technology company, to create a plan for cleaning up the contaminated groundwater plume at the Northrop Grumman Bethpage Facility and Naval Weapons Reserve Plant sites. Hazardous waste from the sites had been leaking toxins into the drinking water on Long Island for years. Northrop Grumman agreed to a settlement of $104.4 million that will be used for cleanup, public water supply, and aquifer protection projects.
