North Carolina AG Filed State-Specific PURPA Comments at FERC

North Carolina Attorney General Josh Stein filed comments on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s (FERC) proposed changes to its regulations implementing the Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act of 1978 (PURPA). AG Stein’s comments highlighted the role PUPRA has played in North Carolina, where renewable energy facilitates economic development and assists the state in achieving its clean air and greenhouse gas reduction goals. The comments specifically warned FERC about the detrimental impacts of its proposal to remove the ability of projects to receive fixed energy payments and the revision to the one-mile rule that is used to determine project size.
