Nineteen AGs Urged Senate’s Environment and Public Works Committee to Pass PFAS Legislation

New York Attorney General Letitia James led a coalition of 19 attorneys general in sending a letter to the Senate’s Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee urging the group to pass legislation that will increase public health and environmental protections against highly toxic PFAS. The letter urges the Committee to pass or expand upon a bill approved by the House that includes important provisions to protect against PFAS. The coalition also mentioned several other provisions and legislative priorities in the letter, including designating PFAS as a hazardous substance to promote cleanup of the toxic chemicals and establishing national drinking water standards that would regulate PFAS.
