New York Attorney General Succeeded in $5.1 Million Lawsuit against Landlord for Lead Safety Violations

New York Attorney General Letitia James secured a $5.1 million settlement in a lawsuit against a landlord in Buffalo for lead safety violations. The AG’s office found multiple violations at the properties maintained by the landlord, who manages over 150 properties in low-income communities of color. These violations led to over two dozen instances of lead poisoning in children. The funds will go towards preventing and addressing lead poisoning in homes.
