New York AG Unveiled NYC Electric Truck Program Funded by Clean Air Act Settlement
APRIL 17, 2019
New York Attorney General Letitia James announced the launch of a new program that provides electric delivery trucks to non-profit organizations in New York City. All-electric delivery trucks are an alternative to traditional, diesel-powered trucks, which contribute significantly to air pollution problems in New York City that disproportionately affect low-income communities and communities of color. The program will also provide an opportunity to assess the economic, efficiency and environmental performance of electric delivery trucks relative to their diesel counterparts. The program is funded by a $9.5 million settlement secured by the New York Attorney General’s Office with American Electric Power, over the company’s violations of the Clean Air Act.
