New York AG Filed Lawsuit over Illegal Construction Near Protected Wetlands

New York Attorney General Letitia James—along with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC)—filed a lawsuit against two companies and their owner for allegedly destroying protected natural resources to build a parking lot for construction vehicles. The DEC issued many notices over several years, but the owner still failed to correct the violations, thereby endangering nearby wildlife and wetlands that provide flood control and water quality control for the surrounding areas. The lawsuit sought site clean-up and restoration as well as at least $591,000 in civil penalties.
