JANUARY 22, 2021
New York Attorney General Letitia James filed a lawsuit against the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) following the NRC’s refusal to hold a hearing on the state’s concerns regarding financial and technical aspects of the planned decommissioning of the Indian Point Nuclear Generating Station in the lower Hudson Valley. Over the objections of AG James and several local government entities, the NRC authorized transfer of the nuclear plant’s license from its operator, Entergy, to Holtec International for decommissioning.
