New Jersey AG Sued Owners of Above-Ground Storage Tank Containing Hazardous Substances
OCTOBER 8, 2021
Acting New Jersey Attorney General Andrew J. Bruck, along with the Department of Environmental Protection, filed a lawsuit against Fast Oil Co., its president, and prior site owners for failing to comply with prior DEP orders to bring the company’s above-ground storage tank, which contains hazardous substances, into compliance. The lawsuit sought to “compel defendants to empty the tank, repair the containment system surrounding the tank, immediately halt the illegal solid waste importing and processing operations, and pay civil penalties.” This action was part of a tranche of lawsuits taken as part of the New Jersey AG Office’s environmental justice initiative.
