New Jersey AG Sued Metal Finishing Company over Hazardous Pollution
OCTOBER 25, 2019
New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal, along with the Department of Environmental Protection, filed a lawsuit against Nanes Metal Finishing Company, Inc. over allegations that the company’s operations illegally discharged hazardous chemicals, including TCE and PCE, into nearby soil and groundwater. The lawsuit sought “an order requiring the company to finish cleaning up the impacted soil and groundwater and to pay back DEP for the roughly $500,000 in cleanup costs that it had to incur.” This action was part of a tranche of lawsuits taken as part of the New Jersey AG Office’s environmental justice initiative.
