OCTOBER 25, 2019
New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal, along with the Department of Environmental Protection, filed a lawsuit against Schofield Cleaners over allegations that the company failed to properly maintain underground storage tanks containing hazardous solvents, leading to PCE contamination of the surrounding soil. The lawsuit sought enforcement of a previous DEP remediation order, as well as payment of civil penalties. This action was part of a tranche of lawsuits taken as part of the New Jersey AG Office’s environmental justice initiative.
