New Jersey AG Sued Dry Cleaning Business over Hazardous Contamination
SEPTEMBER 28, 2023
New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin, along with the Department of Environmental Protection, filed a lawsuit against Sparkle Cleaners for failing to comply with a consent judgment and a court order to remediate TCE and PCE contamination at the site of its business. The lawsuit sought to “force the owner to remediate the site, including cleaning up the TCE and PCE contamination, and pay sanctions for violating the previous order.” This action was part of a tranche of lawsuits taken as part of the New Jersey AG Office’s environmental justice initiative.
