New Jersey AG Sued Companies over Industrial Pollution that Endangered Nearby Watershed

New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal, along with the Department of Environmental Protection, filed a lawsuit against Penick Corporation, Unilever, and other current and former owners of an industrial property in Newark that is contaminated with volatile organic compounds, PCBs, and hazardous metals. The lawsuit sought “damages for the loss and future restoration of natural resources in the region caused by discharge of hazardous substances into [a nearby] watershed.” This action was part of a tranche of lawsuits taken as part of the New Jersey AG Office’s environmental justice initiative.
