New Jersey AG Sued Auto Facility over Pollution that Endangered Community Water Quality

New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal, along with the Department of Environmental Protection, filed a lawsuit against KAARS, Inc., an auto recycling facility in Trenton, over allegations that the company violated the Water Pollution Control Act, the Solid Waste Management Act, and the Spill Compensation and Control Act. According to the complaint, the company’s operations resulted in “uncontrolled pollutant discharges that threaten[ed] water quality in the area, which includes a city park, residences, and an elementary school.” This action was part of a tranche of lawsuits taken as part of the New Jersey AG Office’s environmental justice initiative.
