New Jersey AG Sued Apparel Manufacturing Company over Illegal Emissions

In August 2020, then-New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal, along with the Department of Environmental Protection, filed a lawsuit against American Fabric Processors over illegal emissions of volatile organic chemicals and NOx at its apparel manufacturing site, which is located across the street from an elementary school. This action was part of a tranche of lawsuits taken as part of the New Jersey AG Office’s environmental justice initiative.

In April 2023, New Jersey Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin announced that his office and DEP had reached a settlement, under which the company came into compliance with its air quality permit and paid $50,000 in penalties.
