New Jersey AG Filed Lawsuit against Dry Cleaning Company over Hazardous PCE Pollution
OCTOBER 25, 2019
New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal, along with the Department of Environmental Protection, filed a lawsuit against Sainte Marie Dry Cleaners and its affiliated owners and operators over allegations that the company’s operations resulted in the illegal discharge of PCE, which contaminated nearby residential properties. The lawsuit sought “to compel the defendants to clean up the PCE contamination, reimburse DEP for costs in excess of $400,000, and to pay civil penalties for their failure to remediate the property.” This action was part of a tranche of lawsuits taken as part of the New Jersey AG Office’s environmental justice initiative.
