New Jersey AG Filed Lawsuit against Current and Former Owners of Gas Station over Hazardous Contamination

New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin, along with the Department of Environmental Protection, filed a lawsuit against current and former owners and operators of a former gas station at 304 Main Street in Metuchen for failing to address hazardous soil and groundwater contamination. The lawsuit sought “remediation of the soil and groundwater contamination, closure of the USTs, repayment of remediation costs to the DEP, and civil penalties.” This action was part of a tranche of lawsuits taken as part of the New Jersey AG Office’s environmental justice initiative.
