Nebraska AG Filed Complaint against Ethanol Plant for Environmental Violations

Nebraska Attorney General Doug Peterson filed a complaint against AltEn, LLC, an ethanol plant, for violating NEPA, state waste management laws, and the plant’s permit conditions. According to the complaint, the company was using a different type of corn to create ethanol that it was permitted to use, creating hazardous byproducts, such as wastewater that was contaminated with pesticides. The complaint sought proper disposal of the hazardous byproducts, civil penalties, and compliance with permit conditions going forward.
