Minnesota AG Testified on ESG before the House Financial Services Committee

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison testified before the House Financial Services Committee on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations in investing. Specifically, AG Ellison spoke about the negative consequences of anti-ESG bills on Americans, pointing to a number of state-level legislation that prohibits consideration of these very real financial risks in fiduciary decisions. He explained in the testimony that “ESG is nothing more than looking clear-eyed at risks and opportunities in the real world and making sound investment decisions on that basis,” and that “legislation that attempts to hijack investment decisions for
purely political purposes are a threat to the financial security of retirees and families in every community in every state.”
