Michigan AG Intervened in Rate Hike Request by Upper Peninsula Power Company

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced that the Michigan Public Service Commission had approved a settlement between the AG’s office and the Upper Peninsula Power Company after the company requested to increase electric rates by $25.3 million and AG Nessel intervened. Under the settlement, AG Nessel secured a 60% reduction in the rate hike, as well as funds for low-income affordability and a fixed-term moratorium on rate hikes in the future.
