Michigan AG Filed Complaint against Pond Company for Environmental Violations

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel filed a lawsuit against Schlicht Ponds, a pond construction and maintenance company, and its owner for violating environmental laws and performing services without the necessary permits. The company designs, constructs, and maintains residential ponds, and also dredges lakes, canals, and streams. According to the complaint, the company repeatedly carried out these activities in numerous counties in a way that violated the company’s permits from the Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy, or in some cases without obtaining the necessary permits at all. The lawsuit sought to hold Schlicht Ponds accountable for natural resources damage and prohibit the company from future violations.
