Massachusetts AG Secured Payment from Electricity Retailer who Avoided Obligations to State Programs
JUNE 30, 2022
Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey announced the collection of $1.65 million from electricity retailer Utility Expense Reduction, LLC (UER). The payment was made to resolve allegations brought forth by the Attorney General and Inspector General where UER was shown to be in violation of numerous environmental statutes and of failing to make payments to the states’ environmental programs. The payments, which included restitution and penalties, were in addition to blocking UER from operating in Massachusetts for 5 years.
