Massachusetts AG Representative Testified at FERC Hearing on Office of Public Participation

Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey’s Energy and Environment Bureau Chief Rebecca Tepper testified at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s (FERC) public hearing on its new Office of Public Participation. The testimony outlined seven guideposts for the Commission to follow as the Office of Public Participation gets off the ground, based on the principle that “a well informed and engaged public will result in better, more widely trusted Commission decisions.” The recommendations included appointing public liaisons and creating dedicated hotlines for high-impact proceedings, improving the user experience of FERC’s online interfaces, ensuring language accessibility, and providing educational opportunities to help the public better understand the issues within FERC’s jurisdiction.
