Massachusetts AG Reached Settlement with Scrap Metal Facility over Air, Water, and Noise Pollution Claims

Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell announced that she reached a settlement with a former scrap metal facility in Somerset, MA over allegations that the facility had discharged industrial stormwater into a nearby bay and emitted particulate matter into the surrounding neighborhood. Under the consent decree, the company must pay $200,000 total to nearby towns and a non-profit organization, as well as $100,000 to the state to recover costs of the enforcement effort.
