Massachusetts AG Reached Settlement over Illegal Asbestos Work at College Campus in Overburdened Community

Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell reached a settlement with a group of construction and demolition companies and contractors over allegations of illegal asbestos work on a college campus located within an overburdened community. According to the press release, the contractors improperly handled and disposed of asbestos, violating clean air and asbestos regulations, in a building where an active student health services center was located. Under the agreement, the companies had to pay up to $325,000 in civil penalties and were required to implement more thorough employee training and recordkeeping.
