Massachusetts AG, New Jersey AG and New York AG Led Coalition in Securing Settlement Against Polluting Coal Power Plants
JULY 17, 2019
Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey, New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal and New York Attorney General Letitia James led an eight-state coalition in securing a settlement with American Electric Power to reduce its air pollution from its coal-fired power plants. The settlement revises a 2007 consent decree with American Electric Power from litigation over the company’s midwestern power plants. The settlement requires the utility to close a coal-fired unit at the company’s Rockport, Indiana power plant and to fund clean air projects in affected states.
