Maryland AG Filed Motion to Intervene in Lawsuit Against Paper Mill Owner Over Water Pollution Discharges

Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh filed motion to intervene in a lawsuit against the owners of the Luke Paper Mill over unlawful discharges of pollutants into the North Branch Potomac River, in violation of the federal Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). The allegations involved discharges of black sludge containing numerous pollutants that have “created an imminent and substantial endangerment to health and the environment within the State of Maryland.”
