Maine AG Filed Lawsuit against DuPont and 3M for Manufacturing PFAS Despite Knowing Health and Environmental Risks
MARCH 29, 2023
Maine Attorney General Aaron Frey filed two lawsuits against DuPont and 3M over the companies’ manufacturing of products that contain per- and polyfluoroakyl substances (PFAS), also known as “forever chemicals” for their resistance to breaking down in the human body and the environment. According to the complaints, the companies promoted PFAS as safe to use and continued to manufacture and sell products containing PFAS, despite knowing “for decades” that PFAS are harmful to human health and the environment. The lawsuits seek recovery costs for investigation, clean up, restoration, treatment, and monitoring related to PFAS contamination.
