Kentucky AG Successfully Advocated Against Natural Gas Rate Increase
MAY 8, 2019
Kentucky Attorney General Andy Beshear successfully advocated against a rate increase requested by natural gas distribution utility Atmos Energy that would have raised residential ratepayers’ monthly gas bills by nearly 9 percent. In response to arguments made by Attorney General Beshear’s Office of Rate Intervention, including that Atmos Energy inflated its reported expenses, the Kentucky Public Service Commission denied the requested $14.45 million increase in annual revenues, and instead reduced the utility’s annual revenues by $261,769.
