Kansas AG Sued Electricity Trading Company for Manipulating Natural Gas Market During Winter Storm

Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach filed a lawsuit against Macquarie Energy LLC, an electricity trading and marketing company, alleging that it manipulated the price of natural gas during a winter storm in 2021. According to the petition, the company bought gas at a record high price for that area in order to artificially raise gas prices for consumers during a winter storm that was already putting stress on the market.
