Indiana AG Filed Lawsuits against Chemical Companies, Including 3M and DuPont, over PFAS Manufacturing

Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita filed a lawsuit against 22 companies—including 3M and DuPont—alleging that these companies polluted the state’s property and natural resources by making and selling products that contained per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), also known as “forever chemicals” for their resistance to breaking down in the human body or the environment. According to the complaint, despite knowing about the dangers of PFAS, the companies “chose not to take steps to reduce those risks” and instead “continued to advertise, market, manufacture for sale, offer for sale, and sell PFAS containing products [to] state and local governments, fire departments, businesses, and everyday consumers.”
