Illinois AG Sued Company for Failing to Address Hazardous Contamination in EJ Community

Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul filed a lawsuit against a company for illegally storing and disposing of hazardous chemicals at a facility located in an environmental justice concern area. According to the lawsuit, JET Enterprises & Holding Company LLC failed to properly address dangerous contamination at the facility—which served as as a zinc processing facility for over 75 years before the company acquired it—endangering the health of nearby residents and the environment. The lawsuit sought a civil penalties and a remediation plan.
