Illinois AG Reached Settlement with Commercial Bakery over Air Pollution Violations

Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul reached a settlement with Newly Weds Foods, Inc., the operator of a bakery in an environmental justice community in Chicago. According to the AG’s complaint, the company violated clean air regulations by exceeding emissions limits and failing to test and report its emissions after a fire destroyed part of the facility. Under the settlement the company ordered to pay a $755,000 civil penalty and prevent future violations of its permits.
