Illinois AG Filed Complaint against Companies for Manufacturing PFAS for Firefighting Foam

Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul filed a complaint against several companies over its manufacturing of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), which are sometimes referred to as “forever chemicals” for their resistance to breaking down in the human body or the environment—to be used in firefighting foam (aqueous film forming foam, or AFFF). The complaint alleges that the companies had knowledge of the harms of PFAS, but continued to manufacture them and market them as safe.
