MARCH 22, 2018
Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh led a coalition of four attorneys general in filing an amicus brief in Tennessee Clean Water Network v. Tennessee Valley Authority. In their amicus brief, the attorneys general expressed support for a lower court decision that found the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) violated the Clean Water Act and exposed residents and the environment to toxic substances in coal ash — a byproduct of burning coal — that include chromium, arsenic, lead, aluminum, boron, iron, sulfate, selenium and manganese.
